CURRENTLY ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS!

Authenticity is our thing. If you have something to say, we want to hear it. Currently, we are accepting the following:

Short Fiction:

• We only accept one short story at a time.

• Short stories should be between 2000-4500 words.

• Short stories can be of any genre, as long as they connect to the given theme of an issue.

Flash Fiction:

• We accept single pieces of flash fiction, or series up to three pieces long.

• Flash Fiction should be no longer than 1000 words.

Poetry:

• We accept single pieces of poetry, or series up to three pieces long.

• A poem should be no longer than 2 pages long.

Non-Fiction, Memoir, Essays and Interviews:

• We only accept one piece of Non-Fiction at a time.

• Non-Fiction should be between 2000-4500 words, however we will accept larger word counts if the piece is exceptional and demands it.

Photography:

• We accept single photographs, or series of photographs of up to five pieces.

Illustration/Visual Art:

• We only accept single illustrations or pieces of visual art.

• Artwork must be no larger than a single page, and ideally be portrait.

If your submission requires specific formatting, please note this in your submission email.

Submissions can be experimental in nature.

• Email your submissions to flarejournal@outlook.com

• In the subject line of the email, include the Issue number you are submitting for, your name and the title of the piece you are submitting. For example (ISSUE 1 - NAME - TITLE). This allows us to sort through our submissions. If you don't do this, we can't guarantee we will see your submission.

• Include the wordcount, a brief synopsis of your work, what medium it is (short story, poetry, photography etc.) and a brief bio of yourself (no more than 100 words) in the email.

• Attach the work as an attachment. If you copy and paste the piece into the email, we will not be able to publish your work.

• Writing should be in Times New Roman, Double Spaced.

• Writing should be attached as PDF or DOCX, visual mediums should be attached as PNG or JPEG, at 300 dpi.

• WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY WORK THAT HAS BEEN CREATED USING A.I.

• Flare is a free to submit to publication. Unfortunately, although we would like to, we are unable to pay contributors. Likewise, we make no money from the publication, and publish our magazine because we believe it should exist.

• We are open to simultaneous submissions, however if your piece is published elsewhere before us, please let us know immediately.

• We do publish pieces previously published elsewhere. Just let us know where it was previously published, and if you have the rights to publish it in Flare.

• If you have submitted to us before and have been unsuccessful, please feel free to try again. Likewise, if you have been published by us before, you’re welcome to submit to us again in the future.

• By submitting work to us, you give Flare permission to include your work in our magazine, and any Annuals, Anthologies or Collections we publish in the future.
